TCU – K-State Game to Kick at 6:30 P.M. on FOX

Big 12 Conference and Kansas State officials were notified Sunday that the BIG 12 LOGOWildcats’ football game this Saturday, Nov. 8, at No. 7 TCU will kick off at 6:30 p.m., and be televised to a national audience on FOX.

The game was originally placed on the six-day wait list with Baylor at Oklahoma, and that game will be played at 11 a.m. on FOX Sports 1. Other Big 12 games this weekend are West Virginia at Texas at 2:30 p.m., on FOX Sports 1, and Iowa State at Kansas at 2:30  p.m., on FSN.

Kansas State, which checked in at No. 9 in the inaugural College Football Playoff Top 25 on Tuesday, will be playing in a top-10 matchup for the first time since the seventh-ranked Wildcats squared off against No.5 Oregon in the 2013 Fiesta Bowl.

Alex Smith Leads Chiefs Past Jets

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Alex Smith threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns, Jamaal Charles chiefs logoran for another score and the Kansas City Chiefs won 24-10 on Sunday, sending the New York Jets to their eighth straight loss.

Tight ends Travis Kelce and Anthony Fasano each caught touchdown passes, and the Chiefs (5-3) won their third straight and fifth in six games on the same day former running back Priest Holmes was inducted into their ring of honor.

Making his first start with the Jets (1-8), Michael Vick was 21 of 27 for 196 yards and a touchdown. He briefly left in the fourth quarter after taking a massive hit from the Chiefs’ Josh Mauga and walking unsteadily off the field, but eventually returned later in the quarter.

K-State Cruises Past Oklahoma State

The Oklahoma State Cowboys jumped out to a 7-0 lead over Kansas State on their first possession Saturday night in Manhattan, but then the Wildcats reeled off 45 unanswered points and went on to win 48-14 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

The Cowboys capped off their opening possession with a 2-yard scoring run by Tyreek Hill. But on the ensuing kickoff Morgan Burns returned it 86 yards, and with 11:36 to play in the first quarter the game was tied at 7-7. From there Kansas State got two touchdown runs from Charles Jones, touchdown passes from Jake Waters to Tyler Lockett and Curry Sexton, a 1-yard scoring run by backup quarterback Joe Hubener, and two field goals by Matt McCrane.

Wildcat coach Bill Snyder said Kansas State had to make some adjustments after the early Cowboy touchdown. He noted the Wildcats got acclimated to somewhat different personnel groupings than Oklahoma State had a lot of  earlier.  “They played with four wide receivers a good portion of the time. That hasn’t been their number one look. So it took some adjustments, some bench adjustments, and some recognition I think on our part. We let a few things get away from us.” Snyder added the Wildcats came back later and played a bit better.

Kansas State wide receiver Tyler Lockett caught six passes for 94 yards, and in the process surpassed Jordy Nelson to become the second leading receiver in yardage in K-State history. He trails only his father, Kevin Lockett.   Lockett caught one touchdown pass, and that ties him for second in school history in touchdown catches with 23. He is tied with Quincy Morgan with both of them trailing Kevin Lockett.

The attendance of 53,746, was the second highest in the history of the stadium.ksu football oklahoma state

K-State to Host Oklahoma State

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) – Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy tends to stick to himself at coaching wildcatconventions and meetings. He isn’t someone who tends to spend much time schmoozing with others in his profession. The same goes for Kansas State’s Bill Snyder. Snyder has No. 11 Kansas State off to a 6-1 start, and a 4-0 mark in the Big 12, the lone unbeaten team left in conference play. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have dropped two straight regular-season games for the first time since the 2012 season.

Connor Frankamp to Leave Kansas

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Shooting guard Conner Frankamp will not begin his sophomore season with

the Kansas men’s basketball team. Friday morning, head coach Bill Self announced Frankamp’s decision to leave the University of Kansas.

“I met with Conner and his father (Martin Frankamp) Wednesday to discuss his situation and opportunity this season at Kansas,” Self said. “On Thursday he informed me he was going to transfer at the end of this fall semester. From this point forward he is no longer part of this team and will not participate this semester so he can transfer after Christmas and have two-and-a-half years remaining when he becomes eligible after sitting out one full academic year.”

The all-time scoring leader in the Wichita City League from Wichita North High School, Frankamp came in and played in 27 games as a freshman in 2013-14. He was a key factor in the Jayhawks’ 2014 NCAA Tournament as he averaged 11.0 points per game and went 7-for-14 from three-point range. By the end of his rookie season, Frankamp was averaging 8.3 minutes a game and shooting over 31 percent from behind the arc.

“I’ve been thinking about this for a while now,” Frankamp said. “I love KU and I love the Jayhawks. I feel like I’ve improved quite a bit since I’ve been here. I love my teammates but I just don’t feel like it’s the right fit for me. We have many good guards and so many big-time players. I want to be at a place where I could play a bigger role.”

Frankamp progressed through the year, recording his best game of his career in the last game of the 2013-14 season when he scored a career-high 12 points on 4-of-7 threes vs. Stanford (3/23). In KU’s first game of the NCAA Tournament, he tallied 10 points against Eastern Kentucky (3/21). In conference play, Frankamp’s best outing was a 2-for-3 effort from three-point range at Kansas State (2/10).

“This was disappointing news to us. Conner is a fine young man, a very good basketball player and certainly part of what we had envisioned not only our future but also as an impact guy for this upcoming season,” Self said. “We still have six other very good perimeter players. We’re looking forward to all six of those guys contributing in a big way and meaningful minutes throughout the course of the year. Conner will finish this semester academically and will continue to get academic support from us. We wish him the best in his decision making of his new school and in his future basketball endeavors.”

“Coach Self has been a great coach to me, I’ve learned so much under him,” Frankamp said. “He’s not only a great coach but has been a great mentor for me. I can talk to him about almost anything.

“The Kansas fans are amazing, probably the best in the country,” Frankamp added. “I want to wish my teammates good luck. They are like family to me and I want to see them succeed. I’ll still be rooting for them to win and everything.”

No. 5 Kansas, picked to win its 11th-straight Big 12 Conference regular season title, will unofficially open the season when the Jayhawks welcome Washburn to Allen Fieldhouse for an exhibition contest on Monday, Nov. 3. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
