Shockers Add Big Man

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) – Wichita State has filled a significant void in the post by signing Cleveland State transfer Anton Grady to a financial aid agreement for next season.shockers
Grady, who has already graduated, will be eligible to play his final season immediately. He averaged 14.3 points and a team-leading 7.9 rebounds last season.

The Shockers are losing power forward Darius Carter to graduation, and were already thin at the post. Grady fills that spot and he also gives Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall a player with experience in a lineup that returns the backcourt duo of Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker.

After beating Kansas to reach the Sweet 16 this past season, the Shockers will likely be ranked in the preseason Top 25 again this fall.

Big 12 Tiebreaker

The Big 12 will only need one championship trophy this season.

Conference officials have agreed to break a tie for first-place in the standings with head-to-head results.BIG 12 LOGO

Last season, Baylor and TCU both finished 8-1 in the Big 12 and were deemed co-champions, even though the Bears beat the Horned Frogs. After the conference had touted its full round-robin schedule and “One True Champion” slogan, the co-championship put the league and Commissioner Bob Bowlsby in an awkward spot. Both teams were also left out of the College Football Playoff.

That won’t be a problem anymore.

In the case of a tie between three or more teams, record among those teams will be used to determine a champion. The next step would be the record against the next highest ranked team and then scoring differential in games between the tied teams.

If none of those break the tie, a draw will be held at the league office to determine the champion.
