Bill Snyder:
On holding up with the mental grind of the season…
“Well, you have to consider the options and there are really not any. Part of it is there are a lot of people that are involved in a program. So, there are a lot of people that certainly have some of the same emotions that I might. They are my responsibility. You have to devote your time to those things. It does not leave a whole lot of time for yourself, which is probably a good thing as well.”
On taking a lighter practice approach with injuries…
“Well, we are still reflecting on the schedule based on what the trainers are able to tell us about who might be available and when and how that would adjust the schedule that I visited with the media about yesterday. The intent may not remain the same, but the intent today was to practice and cut down the length of our practice, to practice tomorrow and cut down the length of our practice and take two days off before we start in on Saturday, which would equate to aMonday of a normal game week. That is still an advance as we speak, because of trying to work through of who we might get back and if so, what would give them the best practice opportunities as well.”
On Alex Delton’s progress…
“He intends and the trainers intend for him to practice this afternoon in a limited capacity.”
On frustration with starting 0-4 in conference…
“Well, I would not know how to judge it. Have I been as frustrated before? Perhaps not, but I cannot put a numerical value on it.”
On the most difficult aspect of losses…
“Well I do not think nor would I ever ask anyone to come to grips with it. The hardest part is just trying to continue to motivate young people and to do the very best that they possibly can, to have an emotional approach to it that is positive and one that identifies the determination that is necessary to become better in what we are doing, in what an individual is doing – myself and players. You know a lot of us, myself included, have not really been here before. So, it is a matter of having the answers of how to overcome the complexity and the difficulty of what has taken place. That is what I am trying to promote – is the ability to overcome that and do the things that we know are the right things to do to improve and get better. That is ongoing, but it has been that way for 20 years. I think that is still relevant in the situation that we are in right now. What other options are there? Other than trying to improve our capabilities and the things that we do and give it the best that you can. That is really all I can ask of them.”
Junior Quarterback Joe Hubener
On the offense…
“I think we are making positive steps, and I think we just need to put it together. We have shown success in the passing game in some of the early games and we just have to get that back. Now we are showing some success in the run game and we need to keep that as well.”
On the bye week…
“This is not where we want to be in the Big 12. This is not the projection we hoped for, but having a bye week gives us extra time to prepare for Baylor and to fix some of the mistakes that we have made in these first several games in Big 12 play. I think it is at a good time to reflect and to polish things up ourselves.”
On team moral …
“I think it is really good. The team is fired up, and I think we see this as an opportunity to improve ourselves as a team. To really bounce back and we have Baylor coming in ranked number two, that is an opportunity that is not something that we should shy away from. We know we have played with TCU and OSU, both good teams, and there is nothing to be afraid of with Baylor.”
