JCHS Student Athletes Recognized

A total of 22 Junction City High School student-athletes who are receiving athletic scholarships were honored during a celebration at the Senior High on Wednesday.

Receiving NCAA Division Two scholarships were Hannah Reynolds in track and field to Emporia State, Xavier Cason, football, Emporia State, Davante King, football, Washburn University; and Lyric Holman, track, Fort Hays State.

Other scholarship recipients and their sports included Easton Rindt, baseball, Coffeyville Community College; Briona Jensen, basketball, Bethel College; Alana Kramer,

basketball, Coffeyville Community College; Tyler Gromlovits, bowling, Baker University; Chloe Lovell, bowling, Kansas Wesleyan, Chase Bennett, cross country / track, Waldorf University; Kailey Koomen and Michelle Sanchez, cross country / track to Southwestern College.

Also receiving athletic scholarships were Kenson Henderson, football, Coffeyville Community College; Luciuo Norris, football, Coffeyville Community College; Antonio Porter, football, Nebraska Wesleyan; Sam Shefelton, softball, Pratt Community College; Brianna Talley, tennis, Barton County Community College; Ian Sanchez, track, Barton County Community College; Ayi-Lissa Dotson, volleyball, Barton County Community College; Arianna Bowser and Paola Noriega, dance, Barton County Community College and Tye Dale, basketball, Northwest Tech.

Lady Jay Soccer Season Ends

The Junction City Lady Jay soccer team fell to Wichita Northwest in the a Class 6A Regional soccer match 10-0 Monday evening.

Athletic Director Matt Westerhaus reported that the Lady Jays ended the season with a final record of 6-11.

Junction City Blue Jay Baseball – Softball Team Results from the Class 6A Regional Tournaments

The Junction City Blue Jays were defeated by the Wichita-Haysville Colts 9-0 in the championship game of their Class 6A Regional Tournament. The Colts will advance to the Class 6A State Tournament while the Blue Jays end the season with a record of 14-8.

Campus scored 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and lead the Blue Jays 9-0 going to the top of the 7th inning.

Campus leads 2-0 after 4 innings.

The Junction City Blue Jays are playing the Wichita-Haysville Campus Colts in the championship game of their Class 6A Regional Tournament in Wichita.

Campus scored 2 runs in the first inning, and lead the Blue Jays 2-0 after the top of the third inning.

The Junction City Lady Jays lost to Derby 10-0 in the first round of the Class 6A Regional Tournament.

The Junction City Blue Jays have defeated Wichita North 11-1 in the first round of the Regional Tournament. Ashton Wiegand drove in two runs and Easton Rindt drove in two more with a triple to help the Junction City scoring.

The Blue Jays will play in the tournament championship game at approximately 6 p.m. Tuesday night.

The Junction City Blue Jays have jumped out to a 6-1 lead over Wichita North. Easton Rindt hit a double to drive in Jo Jo Nieves, and Devin Newman scored on a wild pitch.

Junction City High School Athletic Director Matt Westerhaus has reported via Blue Jay Athletics Twitter that the Junction City Blue Jay baseball team has jumped out to a 4-0 lead over Wichita North in the first round of their Class 6A Regional Baseball Tournament in Wichita Tuesday.

The Blue Jays led 1-0 after the first inning, and in the second Thane McDaniel hit a trip to knock in three runs to make it 4-0 Junction City. The winner of the game advances to the tournament championship game later Tuesday.

Lady Jay Regional Soccer Pairing Out

The Junction City Lady Jay soccer team ( 6-10 ) will play at Wichita Northwest ( 9-7 )  in a first round Class 6A Regional match on Monday at 6 p.m.

The other half of the bracket will find Manhattan ( 12-4 ) hosting Wichita-Haysville Campus ( 5-11 ) on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The winners will play at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Lady Jays to Play Derby in Softball Regional

The Junction City Lady Jay softball team ( 2-18 ) will play at Derby ( 18-2 ) in the first round of their Class 6A Regional Tournament on Tuesday. The tournament will be played at 4:30 p.m. at the Derby High Park.

The other side of the bracket finds Wichita-Haysville Campus ( 11-9 ) playing Topeka High ( 9-11 ). The championship game is at 6 p.m.

Blue Jays Draw Fifth Seed in Baseball Regional

The Junction City Blue Jay baseball team ( 13-7 ) will play Wichita North ( 5-15 ) in the first round of a Class 6A Regional Tournament on Tuesday at Plagens-Carpenter Sports Complex in the Wichita area.  Wichita-Haysville Campus will host the tournament.

Junction City will play at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The other first round game will find Haysville Campus ( 13-7 ) playing Hutchinson ( 3-17 ) at 3:30 p.m.  The championship game is scheduled at 5 p.m.

The winner of the Regional advances to the Class 6A State Tournament.

 

 

 

Lady Jay Soccer Wins in Overtime

The Junction City Lady Jay soccer team defeated Great Bend in overtime 2-1 at Al Simpler Stadium on Thursday.

According to JCHS Athletic Director Matt Westerhaus the Lady Jay’s Sage Boothe scored the winning goal with an assist from Laura Campbell.

Lady Jays Defeat Highland Park

The Junction City Lady Jay softball team completed a doubleheader sweep of Highland Park with a 15-9 win in the capitol city Wednesday evening.

Junction City won the first game of the doubleheader last week, and were ahead 8-7 in the top of the fourth inning of the second game when the contest had to be halted due to rain. The team then had to return on Wednesday to finish the game.

Junction City will play in a regional tournament next week.

Blue Jays Sweep Highland Park

The Junction City Blue Jays put together two strong games enroute to a doubleheader sweep of Highland Park in baseball at Rathert Field Wednesday night.

The Blue Jays won 16-1 in four innings and 17-7 in five innings.

Junction City coach Pat Stivers liked what he saw from his team after a split in a doubleheader with Manhattan on Tuesday. “Curious to see how focused we were going to be today, but we came out ready to play and took advantage of some errors on the other side. But for the most part I thought our kids came to the ballpark ready to play today.”

The Blue Jays, 13-7, now await their postseason regional tournament pairings. Those come out on Saturday.

 

Lady Jay Softball Falls to Manhattan

The Junction City Lady Jays fell to Manhattan in softball 15-0 in three innings and 9-4 in a full seven-inning contest.

The Lady Jays will travel to Topeka today to complete a game suspended by weather last week. Junction City leads 8-7 in the top of the fourth inning against Highland Park.
