Blue Jay Baseball Splits Opener

The Junction City Blue Jay baseball team opened the season by splitting a doubleheader with Topeka West in the capitol city.baseball

A walk in the bottom of the seventh inning scored the winning run for Topeka West in a 2-1 Charger victory. According to Junction City coach Heath Gerstner Will Ervin pitched six and two-thirds strong innings for the Blue Jays in that game. Nick Zimmerman took the pitching loss.

In the nightcap Nick Zimmerman was the winning pitcher for Junction City. The Blue Jays scored 12 runs in the second inning of that ballgame, aided by some errors by Topeka West.
