Fundraiser Planned for New Memorial in Heritage Park

The fundraising is underway for a new memorial that will be placed in Heritage Park in Junction City.

About a month ago the Flint Hills Morning Rotary Club in Junction CityVETERANS MEMORIAL received approval from the City Commission to place the memorial on the north side of the Kansas Vietnam Memorial on the east side of the park.

Steve Pringle with the Rotary Club explained that since they gained approval they have already raised about a third of the $30,000 cost for the memorial.

“Our veterans organizations here in town have donated very, very, very graciously and we have raised $9,500 just with their support,” Pringle said.

They have multiple fundraiser’s planned including on Monday night at Cox Bros. BBQ on East Chestnut Street in Junction City. Ten percent of all sales between 5:00 p.m. and closing Monday will go towards the memorial.

More fundraisers have been planned including one in conjunction with the Valley View Estates Easter egg hunt later in April.
