Blue Jays roll past Wichita Southeast in first round playoff win

The Junction City Blue Jays opened up a 27-0 halftime lead and were never threatened during the final two quarters in a 48-21 win over the Wichita Southeast Golden Buffaloes Friday night. The win came at Al Simpler Stadium in the opening round of the Class 6A postseason playoffs.

Blue Jay quarterback Andrew Khoury threw four touchdown passes while receiver Quavez Humphreys was on the receiving end of two of those scoring strikes while Ethan Alcorn took one pass 71 yards into the end zone. Jo Jo Nieves of Junction City returned a punt for touchdown as well.

The game was hard hitting but also could be described as chippy at times with multiple unsportsmanlike conduct penalties assessed on the two teams.

Junction City,( 7-2 ) will advance to play at Dodge City in round two of the playoffs next Friday. Dodge City ( 9-0 ) defeated Haysville Campus Friday night 34-13. Wichita Southeast ended their season with a final record of 3-6.
