A fatality accident early Sunday morning has been confirmed by the Junction City Police Department. It occurred near the intersection of East 6th Street and Filley Street. The victim has been identified as Brian McDaniel, 31, Junction City.

According to JCPD Sergeant Brad Diehl,  one truck was towing a second truck with a chain. “As it was the victim was struggling to hook up the chain and he crossed over the inner lane of traffic and walked onto the sidewalk.” Diehl said, “When he ( Brian McDaniel ) went to return to the vehicle he stepped out into the inner lane of traffic and was struck by another oncoming vehicle.”

The accident was reported at 1:19 a.m. Sunday. McDaniel was the driver of the truck that was towing another one. The investigation is still ongoing.
