This will be the 20th year for Michael Garrett’s cemetery themed yard at 301 Smith Street in Milford. It is scheduled be open for the public to tour Halloween ( Thursday ) night free of charge.
Garrett said there will be zombies, skeletons and ghosts. “We have inflatables, black light, strobe light, smoke machines, all the haunting stuff that you need. The yard opens at 7 p.m.
Garrett said a zombie children playground section was added to the cemetery last year and he added a couple of new pieces this year. He also gives out candy. “Last year we gave out 138 trick or treat bags to kids for candy, and that’s not counting the adults and everybody else that comes through. We usually have about 200 people, between the adults and all the kids.”
This Halloween themed event began in 2000. “We’ve had fun and it’s grown.” There is even a spider section in the cemetery.
Garrett said he enjoyed Halloween when he was a kid. “There was a guy who did stuff at his house every year, and when I became a teenager and got to old to trick or treat myself I used to help him out.” Garrett added Halloween is his favorite time of year.
