One of the new features of Riley’s Community Center is a family fitness room
that includes a play area for young children.

Fort Riley hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating conversion of the former Riley’s Conference Center into a multi-purpose community center that provides a family activity room, recreation room, computer lab,
fitness room with child activity space and meeting rooms.

Major General John Kolasheski, Commanding General of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley said “This is an example of us delivering on what is truly important – providing first class care to the Soldiers, family members,  retirees and Department of the Army civilians.”

“The new Riley’s Community Center is geared toward individuals and groups, whether that’s a Soldier or family member using the computer lab, recreation room or family fitness area, or a Family Readiness Group holding an event or even a small ceremony,” added Tod Scalf, Director of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation at Fort Riley.

Riley’s Community Center will continue as the site of major events such as the annual Retiree Appreciation Day in October, attended by hundreds of military retirees, and the Hiring and Education Fair in November, which features more than 100 employers and educational institutions. Riley’s is also the site for monthly town hall meetings and the weekly Victory Welcome briefings. The new community center will no longer provide food service, but groups wishing to host a meal can talk to staff about catering options.

Patrons can use the facility for free during normal operating hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday; 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday; and noon to 7 p.m. on Saturday. Riley’s Community Center can be rented during other hours and days of the week. Fees will vary based on need.
