Exciting night of volleyball unfolds at the Shenk Gym

The Junction City Lady Jays played two tough matches against Emporia and Topeka High Thursday evening at the Shenk Gym.

In the first match Emporia defeated the Lady Jays 17-15, 25-22, 26-24. Against Topeka High the Lady Jays came out on the winning end 29-27, 21-25 and 25-9. A large student section kept up the cheers for Junction City. Coach Basil Nevill addressed the support. “They did a fantastic job. We had a lot of football players that made their way in, and they’re really supportive of the girls.”

In the match against Topeka High Nevill thought the Lady Jays had perhaps lost their mental edge in the second game loss to Topeka High, but that changed in the dominant win in game three. “I just encouraged them to get back to playing Junction City volleyball.”

The Lady Jays play in a tournament at William Chrisman High School inĀ  the Kansas City area on Saturday.
