Ralph Vernon Setzer

Ralph Vernon Setzer, 58, of Flush, Kansas, died Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland.  He was a life-long resident of the area.

Ralph was born on November 19, 1960, in Wamego, the son of Vernon and Christine Rau Setzer.  He attended Flush Grade school and graduated in 1979 from Westmoreland High School.

Ralph was a farmer and stockman his entire life.  First working with his father then owning and operating the family farm near Flush.  He also worked twelve years for Pottawatomie County Road Department.  He also drove a truck hauling feed for a local feedlot.  Ralph was injured in a farming accident in the early 1990s’ and battled many physical issues, but was able to continue to farm until last year.

Ralph enjoyed his family and especially enjoyed his niece and nephew.  He was a great visitor and enjoyed his conversations with his coffee buddies in Wamego every morning.  Ralph enjoyed working the crossword puzzle in the newspaper, and doing mechanics.  He built a single tractor out of three completely different ones.  Ralph loved his guns and enjoyed Coyote hunting.

Ralph is survived by his sister; Susan Prebyl (Dale), Oketo, Kansas; his nephew, Jerrod Prebyl and niece, Angela Prebyl, both of Oketo.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside inurnment service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 29, 2019, at Wamego City Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, on Wednesday, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego.  They suggest memorial contributions to the 7 Township Volunteer Fire Department (Westmoreland), and those may be sent in care of the mortuary.
