Charles Christian Kolterman

Charles Christian Kolterman, 75, of Onaga, Kansas, died Wednesday, June 12, 2018, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.  He was a life-long resident of the area.

Charlie was born on March 11, 1944, in Onaga, the son of Carl A. and Louise Eichem Kolterman.  He attended local schools and in 1962 graduated from Onaga High School.

Charlie worked from 1993 until 2006 at the Alamo Group, Inc assembling mowers.  In his earlier years he worked construction building bridges all over Kansas.  After 2006, Charlie also worked the family farm and saw mill.  He did custom sawing for a variety of clients, including Mars Candy and Jefferies Energy Center.

Charlie was an extremely hard worker.  He also enjoyed time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He liked wood working, fishing and was known for his sense of humor.  Charlie was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Duluth and from 1985 until 2004, a Trustee for the Mill Creek Township.

Charlie married Judy Hatfield on October 27, 1984, in Duluth.  She survives at their home.

He is also survived by his son, Chris Reeves (Tina), Delphos, and Amanda Ross, Baileyville; his grandchildren, Katelynne Baker (Brandon), Onaga, McKinzi, Taylor and Ashtyn Ross, all of Topeka, Clayton and Dallas Reeves, Delphos; a great-grandson, Lukas Baker; and his siblings, Randy Kolterman (Jane), Littleton, Colorado and Joyce Wheeler, Wheaton.  Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Don Kolterman, and brother-in-law, Jim Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Duluth, Kansas.  Reverend Terry DeGiovanni will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Home Cemetery.  Charlie will lie-in-state, on Tuesday, at the church, beginning at 4:00 pm.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and a Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 pm.  They suggest memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association, and those may be sent in care of Campanella-Kufahl Funeral Home.
