Put July 22 on your calendar for Junction City – Geary County United Way. Their first annual Chili Cook-Off will be held on that date at the Geary County Free Fair on South Spring Valley Road.
United Way Executive Director Nicole Mahder said each contestant must provide a six-quart crockpot or larger with their chili. A list of ingredients must be available, but no recipes. Set up is at 5:30 p.m. Judging will take place from 6-7 p.m.
The cost to enter is $25, and $5 tickets will provide participants with a bottle of water, a sample cup and a bag of crackers. Whoever receives the most votes will be the 2019 United Way of Junction City / Geary County Chili Cook-Off champion.
The first place winner will receive 15% of ticket sales, second place 10% of ticket sales and third place five percent of ticket sales.
