The bell at the C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City will toll 13 times at 1 p.m. Thursday, the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy.

Opera House Co-Director Sheila Markley explained they have been contacted by the National Medal of Honor Museum since Junction City had a Medal of Honor recipient in the late Walter Ehlers. There were 13 recipients across the nation. “So we will simultaneously have a ringing of our clock tower. ”

On Thursday at 1 o’clock they will ring the bell at the Opera House 13 times. Walter Ehlers passed away in 2014.
