Monday was the election filing deadline for school board, city commission and city council races.

Geary County Clerk Rebecca Nordyke noted for the Junction City Commission three positions are up for election and four candidates have filed, and for the USD 475 Board of Education there are four positions and five candidates have filed.  In the city commission race the candidates are Ronna Larson, Pat Landes, Holly Voelcker and and Nathan Butler. In the school board race they include Anwar Khoury, Tom Brungardt, Kristy Haden, Jim Schmidt and Ronald Johnson.

There are not enough candidates to require a primary election so the final makeup of the two elected boards will be determined in the November election.

Three seats will be up for election on both the Milford and Grandview Plaza city councils but no one filed, meaning those races will be determined by write-in votes.
