JCHS sending 17 athletes to the State Track Meet

It’s time for State Track and Field.

The Junction City High School program will have 17 athletes competing at the state meet in Wichita Friday and Saturday.

JCHS coach Randall Zimmerman noted there are some young athletes from Junction City that will get some experience, and some other veterans who will be competing. “Kiana Newman is going in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the 4 x 400 ( relay ).  She’s won a handful of state championships already. She’s in pretty good position, she’s got to run her races when she gets down there.”

Javontez Brime will compete on the boys side in the hurdles, and Juan Tovar will run in the 800 meters. On the girls side Savannah Adams and Sherrie Jones will compete in the shot put and Adams will also throw the discus.

JC Post plus 107.9 FM and 1420 KJCK will keep you updated on the progress of the Junction City and other area athletes beginning about 2:35 Friday afternoon, and continuing through the remainder of the afternoon and evening, and all day on Saturday.
