Chapman teams third in Steve Miller Memorial Meet

The Chapman Irish and boys girls track teams finished third out of six squads in the Steve Miller Memorial Meet in Chapman. Wamego took home top team honors in both the boys and girls portions of the meet.

Highlights for Chapman in girls competition included a first place finish by Peyton Suther in the javelin throw at 113-06. Taylor Briggs won the 1600 meter run in 5:21.39 and the 3200 meter run in 11:45.66 and McKenna Kirkpatrick won the long jump with a leap of 16-07.00  Kirkpatrick also finished second in the triple jump at 34-02.75. macy Bliss was second in the shot put with a throw of 30-05.00 and third in the discus throw at 85-09.

For the Chapman boys Mitchell Tiller won the pole vault with a vault of 111-06.00, Blake Vercher was first in the long jump with a jump of 121-3.00 and first in the  400 meter dash in 51.27, while the boys 4 x 400 relay team of Anthony Wasylk, Blake Vercher, Izek jackson and Shaun Blocker captured first place in 3:32.61.  Anthony Wasylk also finished first in the 800 meters in 2:07.30

In the girls team scoring Wamego finished first with 150.5 points followed by Abilene with 142, Chapman 122, St. Marys 96, Clay Center 73 and Council Grove 62. In the boys team scoring Wamego had 176 points followed by Abilene with 142, Chapman 117, St. Marys 77.5, Clay Center 74 and Council Grove 55.5.
