The Chapman Irish defeated Garnett-Anderson County 62-38 in the first round of the Class 4A Boys State Basketball Tournament at Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.

The Irish now advance to the semifinals at 8:15 p.m. Friday against Augusta, who defeated Andale in the first round of the  tournament 57-43.

The other side of the bracket saw Wichita Trinity Academy defeat Chanute 61-52 and Kansas City Piper defeated Parsons 55-52.
