The Kansas Department of Commerce has awarded a Community Development Block Grant to Junction City.
The grant award was announced by City officials last week, but the formal release from the Department of Commerce confirmed that Junction City will receive a grant for $425,000 to complete a street project. The City will contribute $387,500 in city matching funds.
The project will include improvements at the intersection of Spring Valley Road, Ash and Liberty Hall on the west side of the city, and the widening of Spring Valley Road for about 1,000 feet in a southerly direction from that intersection.
Statewide, the Department of Commerce awarded a total of $11 million in Community Development Block Grants.
