The Eagles at 2013 East 10th Street will be the site of a Black History Celebration on Saturday, February 23rd at 11 a.m.

Director Tami Pollock said there will be a mini-play focusing on slaves who have an opportunity to get to freedom. They have an opportunity to travel the underground railroad as they’re escaping in search of freedom.

Other activities will include an essay contest for middle school and high school students, and awards for winners.

Organizers hope to make this an annual event during Black History Month. They are still seeking sponsors to help support the event.
