Weather can be unpredictable

Geary County has already received more snow now than all of last winter.

Geary County Extension Agent Chuck Otte, who keeps the weather records in the county, talked Monday about what we can expect the rest of this winter. ” I went on the Climate Prediction Center with NOAA. They’re still showing three month forecast of above average temperatures and equal chances on precipitation. They’re not showing anything that it will be drier than normal or wetter than normal which means it could be anything.”

Otte stated there isn’t any strong pattern. “We may have already seen all the snow we’re going to have this year. I think we’ll still see some more snow. I think we’re going to end the year above average. It may be distributed out in two and three inch increments but I think we’re going to be above average snowfall this year.”

He noted November will be below normal when it comes temperatures.

The storm on Sunday resulted in a three-inch snowfall for Junction City.
