Two JCHS Cross Country Runners Qualify for State Meet

Stephany Lechuga and Juan Tovar of Junction City High School have qualified for the Class 6A State Cross

Country meet Saturday, October 27th at Rimrock Farm near Lawrence.

Junction City cross country teams competed in the Class 6A Regional meet in Manhattan this past Saturday. Lechuga finished 12th in the girls race in 20:46.08. Tovar finished 17th in the boys race in 17:21.02

Juan Tovarfinished 17th in the boys race in 17:21.02.

In the team competition Manhattan won the girls meet title with the low score of 32 while Junction City finished seventh with 172 points. On the boys side Lawrence Free State claimed first place with 51 points while Junction City was eighth with 210 points.

For the Blue Jays other runners and their finishes included Kenlen Ortiz in 47th in 19:32.45, Adrian Robles 50th in 19:46.84, and Hayden Diestelkamp 52nd in 20:17.60.

For the Lady Jays Kaydra Baer was 27th in 21:41.56, Cassidy Eschliman 36th in 22:29.26, and Laynee Chasee 47th in 23:49.97.
