Weather Update for Geary County

Authorities are keeping an eye out for any potential flooding problems in the Geary County area on Tuesday.

No major problems have been reported so far, but Emergency Management Director Garry Berges said some of the counties that had rivers rise had seen them drop back down overnight. Authorities will check Lyons Creek in the Rock Springs 4-H Center area to see where the water level is at.

Berges noted the ground in the area is extremely saturated the water runoff. “Try to stay off the gravel, the mud roads unless you really need to be on them. Because all it is going to do is tear them up and you’ll probably end up getting stuck and then you’ve got to call for a tow company.” Berges urged motorists to stay off the back roads for a few days.

A flood watch is posted throughout the entire area through tonight.
