License Plates Changing

Kathy Tremont

The Geary County Treasurer,Kathy Tremont, said Wednesday future Kansas license plates will be in a digitalized format, which will be flat and not have raised letters or numbers.

Tremont spoke to the JC Breakfast Optimist Club where she said, “Registrants will receive a 30-day tag and then receive their license plate in the mail, which is different from the current system. Now people are given a license plate for a new or different vehicle, or a decal to place on their license plate upon renewal of their registration. That will change this year.” Tremont stated, “There are an average of 4,000 vehicles registered each month.”

JC Breakfast Optimist Club member Dr. Ferrell Miller provided information for this article. He also reported that the Club will have a fundraiser at Ike’s Place on Golden Belt Boulevard on September 5th between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and also from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Donations and 10% of the cost of meals purchased will go to the Club to support youth activities in Geary County.  Another fundraiser will be held at Marco’s Pizza on September 12th from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
