The Blue Jays football team moved the ball well at times but the heat and humidity took its toll during the annual Blue – White scrimmage at Al Simpler Stadium.
Coach Randall Zimmerman said he thought the team was a little ahead of what they showed. I think the biggest thing is just our mental condition, just being able to line up right, being able to line up right being able to stay focused on what we’re doing no matter what the situation is.” The coach noted it was a long day for the athletes and the temperature was in the 70’s and 80’s all week long until Friday. “Last night it was 90 degrees and probably 60-70% humidity and we were on our feet a lot. So I think that kind of got to us. We’ve got to overcome those things really, really quickly.”
Zimmerman stated, “Last night I thought our defense was in position, they really played well. Our older guys are ready to go. ” Zimmerman and Javontez Brime and Aaron Hamilton were noted for their strong play and leadership.
