Seniors, people with disabilities and caregivers throughout Kansas are invited to the 2018 Sunflower Fair on Tues., Sept. 18.
The heartland’s premier health and wellness event takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tony’s Pizza Events Center, 800 The Midway in Salina.
The annual event is sponsored by the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging (NC-FH AAA) with support from the Salina Regional Health Center. More than 750 people attended last year’s event.
“The theme for this year’s Sunflower Fair is “A Grand Time!”–which expresses our Agency’s belief that Kansans should celebrate what is good about our lives each day,” said Julie Govert Walter, NC-FH AAA Executive Director.
“The Sunflower Fair is a day of friendship and fun, and it’s packed with important information Kansans need to know to celebrate many more happy birthdays–it’s a great event for meeting up with friends and family from throughout the state,” Walter said.
The event features expert speakers and exhibitors. Experts will be speaking on topics including What’s happening with Social Security and Medicare?” “What to do about the Blues Talk Show,” “Happy Grandparenting!” “Your Best Heart Health,” “Eating for Good Health,”
“Avoiding Scams and Frauds” and other sessions featuring useful information.
Health screenings will be provided in the exhibit area throughout the day. Kansas Legal Services will provide counsel for those needing to complete Powers of Attorney and other end-of-life documents.
The festivities also include a banquet lunch, recognition of honorees selected by counties in the NC-FH AAA region, the Sunflower Antique Tractor Show and prize drawings.
The Agency is accepting Silent Auction donations. Those who donate by August 31 will be listed in the Sunflower Fair program. Exhibit space is still available, but space is limited. To donate an item or be an exhibitor call 800-432-2703.
Bus transportation to the event is available along an I-70 route, however, space is limited. Those interested should call 800-432-2703 for details.
Registration costs $20 before Sept. 10 and includes a banquet lunch. On-site registration after Sept. 10 is $25. Registration information is available in Keynotes. To register in advance or for more information, call the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging at 800-432-2703 or visit www.ncfhaaa.com.
