Junction City Omni Wrapped Up On Sunday

The two-day Junction City Omni bicycle race competition ended Sunday afternoon at 6th and Washington in the downtown area.

Will Peterson won the overall men’s competition and Cindy Bracker the overall women’s portion of the event.

The racing began Saturday in the Milford Lake area before moving into town on Sunday. Bracker noted they enjoyed themselves in the area, noting it was a great place to race. They raced a three-and-a-half mile circuit near the lake. “There was a little hill climb in there, it was pretty amazing. Got in a break with a couple of other girls. A  break is when you’re in a big field of people, and then like a few of you jump hard and get away from the rest of the field and you form what is called a break. So we went and rotated and ended up I won that race.”

Trophies were presented to the winners at the finish line on Sunday. There was $7,500 in prize money spread between the winners.
