The Geary County Historical Society will host their next round of Memories at the Museum on Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Museum. It will be about the topic “Women in Pants.”
According to the newsletter “Geary Glimmers” the memories session on Sunday was inspired by stories of girls who challenged the dress codes by wearing pants to school. They’re asking the public to share their memories of women who broke the mold as leaders of their communities.
Other upcoming historical society events include a Papa Murphy’s fundraiser on August 9th. You can support the historical society by picking up a pizza from Papa Murphy’s that day. Just mention the fundraiser to contribute 15% of your purchase to the Geary County Historical Society.
The annual Ice Cream Social will be Sunday, September 16th from 3-6 p.m. at the Museum. In addition to ice cream there will be sales of homemade pies, baked goods, pickles, popcorn and hot dogs. There will be live music from the local favorite Quittin’ Time and from the Junction City High School band and orchestra.
