The Ottaway Amusement Carnival will begin setting up early Wednesday downtown for Sundown Salute in Junction City.
The Public Works Director for the City, Ray Ibarra, explained some streets will need to be closed. “On 6th Street between Washington to Adams, and then on Jefferson from 7th street to the mid-block of 5th Street. And then they also will block off 7th Street from Jefferson to mid-block of the end of the City building.” The carnival will open its’ Sundown Salute run Friday night and continue through July 4th.
Then on Thursday the stage for the Sundown Salute concerts will be set u on 6th Street adjacent to Heritage Park in the downtown area. That process takes several hours, noted Ibarra. “Usually it takes anywhere from 8 hours to 10 hours, depending on what crew they send and how organized they are.”
Following the setup of the stage another job will involve placement of generators to help provide electricity in Heritage park for sound music, plus the ice machine and beer ticket sale booth.
