Partners for the First Territorial Capitol Session Set

The annual meeting of the Partners for the First Territorial Capitol is Saturday at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Capitol site on Huebner Road, Fort Riley.

The meeting is held in June each year to commemorate the arrival of the first Kansas Territorial Governor, Andrew Reeder at the site, and the subsequent infamousĀ  5-day legislative session held there in July 1855.

Due to the heat and other issues, the previously announced plans for an open house on Saturday, complete with a legislature reenactment, have been cancelled. The meeting will include annual reports and other business, as well as the electiion of new officers and board members.

All friends, members and supporters of the historic First Territorial Capitol state historic site are encouraged to attend the Partners meeting.
