June 27th is the first day you can legally shoot fireworks in Junction City.
That information was provided by Fire Chief Terry Johnson, who said fireworks can be discharged until July 5th. Different times will apply on different days. “Sunday through Thursday the discharge time is 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. only. Then on Friday and Saturday it is 8 a.m. to midnight.” You can also shoot off fireworks until midnight on the Fourth of July.
Johnson said be careful when you use fireworks. “You’re playing with explosives, not high grade, but you’re playing with explosives. Also fireworks start fires.”
The Fire Department is doing the necessary inspections for fireworks stands now.
