Blue Jays Sweep Emporia in Baseball

Thane McDaniel pitched six and one-third innings enroute to a 5-0 shutout of the Emporia Spartans ( 0-2 )  in the first game of a doubleheader at Rathert Field. Easton Rindt hit a two-run home run and had three rbi’s in the victory for Junction City.

In game two Ashton Wiegand got the pitching win as Junction City defeated Emporia 7-2.

Coach Pat Stivers said he thought all of the Blue Jay pitchers did a good job. “Of course Thane, Ashton did a great job. Both of them threw strikes when they needed to. We let some at-bats get away from us and had some walks that we need to do a better job of, but all in all I thought our pitching was good tonight.”

The wins came in the season opener for Junction City, who will host Garden City on Tuesday.
