MANHATTAN, Kan. – On field preparations for the 2018 K-State Football season begin on Wednesday afternoon as the Wildcats conduct the first of 14 practices leading up to the Purple/White Spring Game on April 21.
Beginning today, K-State will practice each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday over the next three weeks, culminating with the spring game, which will kick off at 1:10 p.m., on Saturday, April 21, in Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
K-State is coming off an 8-5 campaign with wins each of its final three games and five victories in the final six contests, including a 35-17 triumph over UCLA in the Cactus Bowl. The Wildcats, who advanced to their eighth-straight bowl, earned a 5-4 Big 12 mark to tie for fourth in the league.
For a second-straight season, K-State returns 14 starters from last year’s squad. In total, the Wildcats bring back 171 starts from the 2017 season, including every start along the offensive line. Included in the returning starters are four players who earned All-Big 12 honors in defensive tackle Trey Dishon, offensive lineman Dalton Risner, defensive back Duke Shelley and defensive end Reggie Walker.
College Football Hall of Fame head coach Bill Snyder is entering his 27th year guiding the Wildcats with a 210-110-1 record. Snyder, who ranks first in the FBS in wins among active coaches at their current schools, is one of 26 FBS coaches all-time to reach 200 career wins but just the sixth to coach at only one school. Additionally, Snyder owns 123 conference wins to stand as only one of four coaches with 100-plus Big 8/12 victories.
Tickets for the 2018 Purple/White Spring Game can be purchased through the K-State Athletics Ticket office online at www.k-statesports.com/tickets, by phone at 1-800-221-CATS or at the main ticket office inside Bramlage Coliseum.
