Blue Jays – Lady Jays Win Home Openers

The Junction City Blue Jays made ten 3-point shots enroute to a 49-39 victory over the Great Bend Panthers ( 1-3 ) at the Shenk Gym on Friday night.

A. J. Dickerson led the attack for the Blue Jays, hitting five of those three-pointers and leading the team with 19 points. Junction City took the lead in the first half and gradually pulled away in the late minutes of the ballgame to improve to 2-1 on the season. Aaron Hamilton connected on a trio of 3-point shots, while Kody Westerhaus and DeAndre Eaves both connected on one.

Blue Jay coach Nick Perez said the team played with some passion. The shooting is better for the team this season, “in practice and games. I tell my shooters get your feet set, let it go.”

In girls action Junction City ( 1-2 ) came away with a 69-63 victory over Great Bend ( 1-3 ).  Lady Jay coach Derek Petty saw Alana Kramer score 16 points for Junction City. “Her strength is getting to the basket and that’s what she did tonight.”
