A Chapman High School freshman, Taylor Briggs, captured first place in the Class 4A Girls State Cross Country Meet at the Wamego Country Club on Saturday.

Her winning time was 18:46.4.

In the Class 4A boys race Aaron Modrow finished fifth in 16:40.0.
