
Teams from Junction City and Fort Riley square off on the softball diamond at Camp Forsyth Wednesday.
End result….Fort Riley won by a score of 10-9.
The pitcher for Junction City, Mayor Phyllis Fitzgerald, called the game a great time. “We had a team here from Junction City that had a little fun game with General Frank ( Brig. Gen. Patrick Frank ) and a bunch of his soldiers from Fort Riley.”
Some of the players for Junction City included in addition to Fitzgerald, Geary County Commissioner Charles Stimatze, CVB Director Michelle Stimatze, Chamber of Commerce CEO Dennis Beson and JCHS Athletic Director Matt Westerhaus. County Commissioner Ben Bennett and Westwood Elementary School teacher Anita Ascher served as coaches for the Junction City entry.
Fitzgerald stated that the game materialized following a discussion between Beson and Frank.
