Geary County Commission Decides not to Renew Appointment of County Appraiser

There will be a change in the Geary County Appraiser position.

County Commission Chairman Ben Bennett confirmed on Monday the move impacting Appraiser Della Rowley. “We did inform Della today that we will not extend an appointment for her on July 1.” Bennett said her current appointment expires on June 30th and the commission will not extend a renewal of it. When asked why the governing body had made this decision he responded by saying, “That’s a personnel matter and we don’t comment on personnel matters.”

Rowley is completing her fourth year as the county appraiser. JCPost.com asked her for a response to the decision by the governing body. “My contract is up, with the four-year at the end of the month. The commissioners informed me it would be not be renewed. That’s the end of that, and I’ll walk away from it and be fine.”

Bennett confirmed the Commission will appoint an interim appraiser,  and then have six months to find a replacement to fill the position.
