Maurice Suspended; Williams to Transfer

little basketballsDENVER, Colo. – Head coach Bruce Weber announced today that redshirt freshman Isaiah Maurice has been indefinitely suspended while redshirt freshman Dante Williams has elected to transfer from the program.

Maurice has been suspended for violations of departmental policy, Weber said.

“Our players have expectations and there are consequences when you don’t live up to those expectations,” said Weber. “Hopefully, Isaiah will learn from this experience and make the necessary progress to rejoin our team.”

A 6-foot-10, 225-pound forward from Durham, N.C., Maurice had seen action in all 10 games this season, averaging 2.6 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game off the bench.

Williams completed final exams this week and informed Weber he was leaving the program.

“After discussions with his family, Dante has made the decision to transfer from Kansas State,” said Weber. “He feels like he needs to continue his college career elsewhere and we wish him the best as he moves forward.”

A 7-foot, 245-pound forward from Arlington, Texas, Williams had seen action in six games this season, averaging 1.5 points, 1.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 4.8 minutes per game. He redshirted his freshman season in 2015-16.
