EXHIBITION – QUICK HITTERS

  • Kansas State closes out the exhibition portion of its schedule on Friday by hosting Division II foe Washburn (0-0) and alum Bob Chipman in the second game of a doubleheader at Bramlage Coliseum. The contest will tip off at 8 p.m. CT following the conclusion of the first game between the K-State women and Washburn, which is set for 5:30 p.m.
  • Chipman will be leading his Ichabods into Bramlage Coliseum for the final time on Friday after he announced his intentions to retire following his 38th season in 2016-17. The 1973 graduate of K-State has won 877 games in his career, which ranks as the third-most among active Division II coaches and the sixth most all-time at Division II. He has led the Ichabods to 12 NCAA Tournaments, including the 2001 national title game.
  • K-State is 62-20 (.756) all-time in exhibition play dating back to 1964, including 47-9 (.839) at home. The Wildcats are 41-9 (.820) at Bramlage Coliseum in exhibition play, including 19 consecutive wins dating back to 2004. The team has five wins over the Ichabods during its current 19-game home exhibition win streak, including 94-90 in 3 overtimes in 2006, 81-57 in 2008, 90-44 in 2010, 81-61 in 2012 and 68-56 in 2014.
  • The last home setback in exhibition play came to the EA Sports All-Stars, 79-67, on Nov. 6, 2003. The last loss in an exhibition came during the team’s tour of Italy and Switzerland this summer – an 85-74 setback to the Kosovo National Team on August 16. The Wildcats went 3-2 on the tour.
  • K-State opened exhibition play with an 85-74 win over Pittsburg State on Oct. 28, as sophomore Barry Brown led four Wildcats in double figures with a game-high 17 points. Dean Wade (14), Xavier Sneed (13) and Isaiah Maurice joined Brown in double figures. The Wildcats connected on 52.8 percent (19-of-36) of their field goals in building a 26-point lead before limiting the minutes of their starters in the second half.
  • K-State played 16 of its 17 players against Pittsburg State with four of the team’s five starters playing 20 minutes or less. Only Brown (29) and Sneed (23) eclipsed the 20-minute barrier.
  • K-State won its last meeting with Washburn, 68-56, on Nov. 9, 2014. The Wildcats shot 44.1 percent from the field, while they held the Ichabods to 37.7 percent shooting and converted 19 turnovers into 28 points.
  • K-State is 7-0 under Bruce Weber in exhibition play at home with wins over Washburn and Emporia State in 2012, Pittsburg State in 2013 and 2016, Washburn in 2014 and ESU and Fort Hays State last year.
