Ryan Hennington ran for three touchdowns as the Junction City Blue Jays cruised to a 43-14 win over the Gateway Stem Jaguars of St. Louis, Missouri on a neutral field in Lansing, Kansas.
The Blue Jays got on the board with 5:03 remaining in the first quarter with a 12-yard touchdown run by Hennington and never trailed in the ballgame. The two touchdowns for Gateway Stem were scored in the fourth quarter after the Blue Jays had built up a 43-0 lead. There was a running clock for the entire fourth quarter.
Blue Jay coach Randall Zimmerman praised the Jaguars, saying they were a good football team, and the Blue Jays did some nice things. “The only thing I was disappointed in the first half, we have a tough time just making plays. We want to create plays. That git us in trouble offensively, that got us in trouble defensively a little bit, and special team-wise as well as well. But once we got settled in and got going, saw some really things from our kids.”
The Blue Jays, 6-1, play at Topeka Seaman next Friday. Gateway Stem fell to 6-3 with the loss.
