Barbeque Competition Results for Jammin in JC

The barbeque competition for Jammin in JC was completed before heavy rains arrived in Junction City Saturday afternoon, but the awards ceremony had to be moved indoors to the Knights of Columbus.

twoCoordinator Lance Custer reported that the total prize money totaled $7,100 with the Grand Champion team receiving $1,300 and the Reserve Grand Champion $800. Custer explained they just barely beat the rain as they finished the competition. “We had a few spurts here and there. Once it was all over we were able to button it all up and get over here to the Knights of Columbus and hand out awards.

oneLon and JoAnne Mitchell, Gilette, Wyoming, were the Grand Champions. Lon told JC Post they were headed to a Sam’s Club national competition in Bentonville, Arkansas next week. “We wanted to come here kind of as a little practice cook, because we’re used to cooking in high altitude. And this is a little lower than I normally cook so we wanted to see how we’d do down here.”

In the individual competition categories the first place finishers were:

–Steak contest, Sublime BBQ

–Chicken, Pop’s Hobo BBQ

–Pork Ribs, Porky Butts BBQ

–Pork, High I Que

–Brisket, Leion of Que
