A good turnout, music, Call Hall ice cream from K-State and community were all blended together for the 27th annual Ice Cream Social sponsored by the Geary County Historical Society.

The event was held on the grounds of the Historical Museum at Sixth and Adams on Sunday.

Katie Goerl, Historical Society Director, explained the annual event raises funds to help the museum. “We thrive on donations so we’ll take everything we can get. This is one of our main fundraisers.”

Music is always a big draw at the ice cream social. This year performers included Al Bowyer playing Appalachian ballads and folk music. the JCHS Jazz Band, and JCHS Orchestra.

The attendance was strong. Goerl thought the ice cream social drew the desired turnout. “I’m told that this is really good turnout for this event. And I was really happy with the number of people. We had at least 150 visitors, my guess is we got up right around 200.”
