The Junction City Fire Department is hosting their 2nd annual MDA fundraiser this Saturday, September 3rd.
Dave Mortimer, JCFD #3309 said the the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or MDA, is the primary charity for the JCFD and firefighters across the state.
“Fire departments all across the country have been involved with Muscular Dystrophy for over 60 years – 62 to be exact…every fire department in the state recognizes MDA as their primary charity,” said Mortimer.
So far, Mortimer says they have already raised $7000 for the charity in the form of boot drives (standing on the street collecting money), sponsorships and donations.
The fundraiser on Saturday begins with the 8:00 am check-in time for the barbecue competition, followed by a full day of activities that extend well in to the evening hours. Some of the events include:
- Kids Zone at 1:00 pm
- Silent Auction opens at 1:00 pm
- Live Auction during int

The MDA fundraiser will be held at Coach’s Grill and Bar in Junction City located at 720 Caroline Avenue on Saturday, September 3rd.
