The annual Float Your Boat at Milford Lake drew boats and participants from the region on Saturday at Thunderbird Marina and RV resort.

The best constructed boat award went to the Candlewood Suites entry from Junction City. Spokesman Jason Keilman stated it was built as a speed boat. “We used tubes to build the frame and then wrapped it with tape, and then covered everything with as much duc tape as we could find in town.” Keilman noted more than $200 worth of duct tab was used in the project.
All of the boats were built with cardboard and duct tape.

Float Your Boat has been a Geary County CVB Event since its inception.Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Dennis Beson called it a tremendous event. “Super successful, not too hot.The wind died just down enough that we could have a great bunch of racers. What a great turnout. I would have to say at least 150 people.”
There were four divisions of competition. In the Family category Micro Bootlegger covered the marina course in 52 seconds to finish first. For the Teen division a boat built to look like a Silver Swan finished first in one minute, 24 seconds. In the Open division Team Rock Springs captured first place in 1:01, and in the Extreme division2 Legit 2 Quit finished first in 1:12.
Beson estimated there were a total of 27 boats entered in Float Your Boat.
