Aileen Cray was honored at the annual United Way Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon in Junction City. She has been named the Executive Director Emeritus for the local organization.
She retired earlier this year due to health reasons after eight years as Executive Director of the Junction City / Geary County United Way. During the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon she noted from the beginning of her career in United Way it is the kind of work that has always touched her heart. “It’s the kind of work you’ll never get rich, trust me. When you work for nonprofits you learn that really fast, but that’s okay, because the results in your heart are well worth it. You touch people’s lives every single day.”
United Way Board of Directors President Charles Volland explained they wanted to keep Cray feeling like part of the family so she received the Executive Directror Emeritus title.
