In Geary USD 475, about $250,000 is being used annualy to maintain and repair a roof that still has issues.

JC Post spoke with Bill Clark, the Director of Business Operations for USD 475.

“We actually did some extensive work on the roof here over the summer, but there’s another portion of the high school that sprung a good leak and we actually came and fixed the holes, but now we see that part of that, some of the water underneath what they call the membrane, so we’re still waiting on that to drain out,” said Clark.

Some staff members have had to relocate offices due to the leaks in the roof.

The Board of Education toured various facilities in the District earlier this week, viewing the many projects and improvements that were undertaken this summer.

LaDonna Junghans, Board President said she was pleased with everything she saw during the tour.

“I think they did an amazing job – the contractors, the partnerships between our teachers, and our team and our schools; the principals, the contractors, the architects, the administrator – they made it all happen in 9 weeks this year and that is amazing and everyone talked about the cooperation and the collaboration,” said Junghans.

Many of the improvements at schools in the district were to the entrances.

Junction City High School saw improvements in a state of the art weight training room, cafe style cafeteria upgrades, and a totally usd 475revamped media center to support the district wide 1:1 initiative.
