A new addition under construction at Sheridan Elementary School, spruced up weight room at Junction City High School, and an upgraded media center at JCHS were all part of the Board of Education tour of USD 475 facilities on Wednesday.

The Board saw secure front entrance improvements at Sheridan and Jefferson Elementary Schools, parking and playground improvements at Grandview Elementary School and a walking overpass on 1st Division Road at Fort Riley which is designed to make it safer for students crossing the roadway to get to Fort Riley Middle School.

Board members saw new flooring, cafeteria tables and counter seating in the cafeteria at Junction City High School, the laptop computers and their cases which will be distributed to students at the senior high later in August, and the new 6,000 square foot addition which is under construction at Sheridan Elementary School. That will include four classrooms, a music room, and it will also serve as a FEMA storm shelter. That addition is on track to be completed in time for the second semester of the upcoming school year. The resurfaced blue tennis courts at the high school were also on display during the tour.
