The Geary County Commission, sitting as the County Health Board, has agreed with a suggestion from Health Department Director Pat Hunter, to close the two youth clinics in the Westside Shopping Center on West 6th Street.

Commission Chair Florence Whitebread on Monday said Hunter informed them the clinics are not used as much as in the past. “And some of our grants that we were getting from the state we no longer get. These were operated based on those grants. And so today ( Monday ) we voted to close those clinics as of the 31st of August.”

Whitebread added with new public bus transportation routes available people can also travel to the Health Department ( on West Ash Street ). She indicated Hunter had informed the commission that the clinics were not nearly as busy. The aTa Bus service has been a popular form of transportation for many people.
