Keith Ascher was the winner in the Geary County Commission Third District Republican primary election on Tuesday.
Ascher received 220 votes to 199 for John Moyer.
Ascher said he was relieved. “But I’m very honored and humbled by the confidence the voters showed in this race in me. I’d really like to say thank you to John. I think he did a wonderful job, obviously as close as it was, he was just as qualified as I was.
Moyer’s post-relection reaction: “Oh we worked pretty hard on this, like my opponent did. So which ever one of us loses, we’re a little disappointed, but I’m glad we got a good person that’s going to serve in that seat to.”
No Democrat filed for election to the third district seat.
In the 68th House Republican primary election Dave Baker was the winner with 1,795 votes. Nicholas Allbritton received 768 and Vance Donahue II 291. Baker will advance to the November general election to face Laura Blevins of White City.
Baker stated, “Well I’m pretty thankful for all the people that helped in my campaign and make this a success. We worked hard and it was a great night. ”
The 68th District is spread over all or parts of four counties, Morris, Geary, Dickinson, and Chase.
